Core Values: Innovation | Trustworthy | Expert | Sustainability | Challenge | Collaboration | Safety About our Opportunity: As our Project Manager, you will work on key R&D projects to deliver new technologies that play a vital part in helping to decarbonise the global glass manufacturing sector. This unique role will provide opportunities to work for leading global manufacturers and internationally recognised brands, on projects based at commercial glass plants and our St Helens Centre of Excellence when it opens later in 2023. You will have an amazing opportunity to work alongside leading global experts across glass and digital technology sectors, supervised by a Senior Project Manager, you will have the opportunity to collaborate with the wider Projects & Innovation team, Senior Management and support with embedding new Project Management tools and systems with Glass Futures. Industry and project management experience is required for this role, and we’re keen to meet with people with experience delivering R&D projects in an industrial environment. The postholder will be involved with Funding Bids Development, therefore experience preparing successful R&D grant funding applications is extremely desirable. It’s essential that you’re motivated by Science, Technology, Engineering or Maths and have the ability to provide practical support within an industrial environment. Glass or ceramics sector experience is advantageous for this role given the nature of the business and projects, however, we are open to hearing from exceptional alternative industry experienced candidates with demonstrable transferrable skills. Core Responsibilities: Management of multiple R&D projectsDevelop and communicate project objectives, reviewing project proposals and plansManagement of other partners, stakeholders and funding agencies Identify and determine project responsibilities, phases and elementsDetermine project specifications, considering performance standards and stakeholder requirements and expectationsDay to day project management, budget responsibility; control the plan, schedule and costsComplex data analysis and report writing, including written, oral, actual and virtual communication and demonstrationAbility to recommend actions and determine outputs, summarising information and trends, specifically down selecting and developing high potential leads for collaborative projects Close liaison with the glass fraternity team in disseminating project specific findings, results and recommendations. Person Specification: We are looking for keen project managers who have delivered grant funded R&D projects in industry and have the following attributes: Adept at preparing and managing budgets and resource plansProactive, with a drive to succeed and show with capacity to work autonomously and collaborativelyInnovative thinker with the ability to identify, assess and propose problem solutionsExperience at influencing and negotiating and achieving commercial advantageExcellent presentation skills with practical networking and relationship building experienceStrong communicator, written and verbal, with adaptability for peers, stakeholders and international communicationsSound attention to detailAwareness, understanding and respect for Health & Safety, ideally with a supporting vocational qualification e.g. IOSHAgile mindset with the ability to react quickly to changing priorities Desirable Skills/Qualifications: MSc/PhD in areas related to Materials Science (Glass / Ceramics), Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Thermal Engineering, Process Control and other Energy Sciences is highly desirableGlass manufacturing experience is very desirableConfident preparing applications for R&D funding is desirableExperience of independently leading fast paced projectsCompetent in the use of Microsoft Office software and a range of project management tools, including Gannt Charts, Risk Management and IP Management Salary:£30-£35k depending on experience. Working Hours:Full time, Monday to Friday 37.5 hours – we work flexibly within our core hours of 8am-4pm to support essential work life balance. There will be occasions when shift work is expected during various times throughout the year when working on key projects/trials). Location:This is a hybrid-based role to start, and will primarily be based from our St Helens Centre of Excellence from 2024. The post also involves occasional travel (national and international). Holidays:25 days holiday plus bank holidays (FTE), pro rata may apply. Plus, additional service days.
