Key Aim

Glass Futures is a not-for-profit research and technology organisation, carrying out collaborative, cutting edge research in glass manufacturing and sustainability, made possible by a significant private and public sector investment of over £50m+ over the coming years.

An unrivalled career opportunity has become available for a Procurement Manager, preferably with Public Sector experience to lead all aspects of the business relating to procurement and tendering. The Procurement Manager should ensure that all processes and procedures underpin Glass Futures’ aims of innovation, excellence, and sustainability.

You will report into the Head of Finance and will work very closely with internal stakeholders ensuring smooth running of procurement and contract management arrangements amongst a range of public and private sector clients and collaborators.

Public Sector experience is highly advantageous for this role due to the nature of the business and projects; however we are also eager to hear from exceptional Industry experienced candidates with demonstrable transferable skills.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provision of professional, commercial procurement activities and procedures, underpinning the companies aims of excellence, innovation and sustainability;
  • Provision of specialist advice, guidance and leadership on procurement, tendering and contract management activities;
  • Reporting and data analytics to provide insight through analysis of spend, supply markets and savings;
  • Lead on the design and implementation of a variety of sourcing strategies/ best practice models, to establish an efficient and effective full service procurement function;
  • Close and consultative collaboration with internal and external stakeholders;
  • Support wider initiatives that will improve commercial capability;
  • Negotiate contract terms and manage contractor and supplier relationships;
  • Ensure purchases and services meet appropriate quality and safety standards;
  • Actively participate in reviews, audits and other assurance processes, with continual focus on ISO accreditation compliance as required.

Person Specification

  • Advanced knowledge of procurement processes, methods and techniques; including negotiation skills, contract management and full purchase to pay;
  • Excellent leadership skills and proven ability to manage high performing internal stakeholders with a culture of capability development and continuous improvement;
  • Knowledge of and experience in delivering complex non-standard procurement and commercial work;
  • Experience of public sector procurement is highly advantageous;
  • Strong negotiation skills – able to develop negotiation strategies and lead complex negotiation activities to a successful conclusion;
  • Demonstrable working knowledge of contract law and experience of drafting contracts;
  • Ability to establish, build and manage constructive strategic relationships;
  • Strong analytical skills backed up by excellent written and oral communication;
  • Strong financial and numeracy background and comfortable at interpreting company accounts and working with budgets;
  • Proactive and self-motivated demonstrating initiative and enthusiasm for implementing innovative procurement solutions;
  • Experience working within a grant-funded business model is desirable.

Job Types: Full-time, Permanent

Salary: £32,000.00-£48,000.00 per year
