Operations Engineers – Multiple Positions (X5) – Mechanical/Electrical/Process

Glass Futures is a not-for-profit research and technology organisation, carrying out collaborative, cutting edge research in glass manufacturing and sustainability, made possible by a significant private and public sector investment of over £50m+ over the coming years.

About our opportunities:

A number of unrivalled career opportunities are being introduced within our Operational Team, which will form the core operations team at St Helens when the new Global Centre of Excellence facility opens in 2023. The R&D projects that these roles will be working on will focus on revolutionising the glass manufacturing sector through the development and implementation of new technology within an industrial setting.

To achieve our desired operational team, different skillsets are required spanning the engineering sector and we want to speak to people of different levels of experience from different industry backgrounds, with a particular focus on hiring at least one of the following roles:

  • Mechanical
  • Electrical
  • Process

You will have a once in a lifetime opportunity to work alongside leading experts across the glass and digital technologies sectors, providing you with the opportunity to develop the foundations of becoming a leader in your field, in your own right.

Industry experience is critical for this role due to the varied scope of responsibilities, and we are keen to meet with people who have gained practical experience through vocational courses as well as academic courses.

It’s essential that you’re motivated by Science, Technology, Engineering or Maths and have the ability to provide practical support within an industrial environment.

Given the project-based nature of the work you may be expected to spend short periods of time away from home and are also expected to cover occasional shift work, with the possibly of the role transferring to permanent shifts in mid-2023 subject to negotiation.

About you:

We are looking for innovative engineers with project management experience, a solid understanding of workplace engineering improvement processes and demonstrated experience within industrial environments with qualifications in either of the following areas (HNC/HND preferred):

  • Mechanical inc. fabrication and maintenance
  • Electrical inc. control systems
  • Process engineering inc. chemical or similar

The Particular’s:

Salary: Range between £27,500 – £37,500 dependent upon specific role and experience
Hours: Full time with flexible working considerations – (Shift work expected during various times in the year)
Location: Hybrid working inc. Home – Travel expected during periods of work – Primarily based in Rotherham during 2022 but in St Helens from 2023 onwards.
